Recovery Resources

Recovery resources refer to the tools, programs, and support systems available to individuals who are in recovery from addiction, mental illness, or other challenges. At Highlife Recovery, we help individuals to surround themselves with a community of both professional and nonprofessional support. Our counselors and case managers support individuals with these resources, by maintaining accountability, providing support and direction, and even accompanying them to meetings to get them started. These resources can include 12-step programs, therapy, counseling, medication-assisted treatment, peer support groups, sober living environments, and many other options. Recovery resources can play a crucial role in helping individuals maintain sobriety, manage symptoms of mental illness, and build fulfilling lives in recovery. Read below and gain more insight into the resources available.

Benefits of Counseling

Counseling can be a valuable tool in addressing addiction and mental health issues by providing individuals with a safe and supportive space to explore their thoughts and emotions. Through the use of therapy modalities and interventions (i.e. CBT, ACT, DBT, etc.), individuals can gain a deeper understanding of their underlying issues and triggers, develop coping mechanisms, and learn strategies to manage their addiction and mental health symptoms. Additionally, counseling can help individuals improve their relationships and enhance their overall quality of life.

Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)

Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) is an evidence-based approach to treating substance use disorders that combines behavioral therapies with medication. The medications used in MOUD help to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and cravings, making it easier for individuals to stop using drugs or alcohol. MOUD is often used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes counseling, support groups, and other resources to help individuals achieve and maintain recovery. Research has shown that MOUD is a highly effective treatment for substance use disorders and can significantly improve an individual's chances of achieving long-term recovery.

Twelve Step

Twelve step community help groups are mutual support groups that provide a framework for individuals struggling with addiction or other behavioral issues to work towards recovery. The groups are based on the principles outlined in the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and encourage members to develop a spiritual connection, take personal inventory, make amends, and help others. Meetings are typically peer-led, confidential, and non-judgmental, and members are encouraged to share their experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another. Twelve step groups are open to anyone seeking recovery and are free to attend, with the only requirement being a desire to stop engaging in the addictive behavior.

Insurance Information

Medical insurance is a type of coverage that helps individuals pay for medical expenses. It works by having the policyholder pay a monthly premium, and in exchange, the insurance company covers a portion of the policyholder's medical expenses. Commercial medical insurance plans often include a range of different types of cost-sharing, such as copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance. While other medical providers may "balance bill" you these cost-sharing amounts, Highlife Recovery does not currently charge these amounts.

Benefits of Group Counseling

While individual counseling provides tools for coping with thoughts and emotions, group counseling can offers a space to share and receive feedback from peers on applying these coping mechanisms to their everyday life. By joining a group, individuals can  feel a sense of belonging, social support, and acceptance from others who may share similar struggles. Group counseling also provides a safe and confidential environment where individuals can openly express their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Through this shared experience, group members can learn from each other, gain new insights, and develop coping skills. Overall, group counseling can be an effective and rewarding way for individuals to receive mental health support and improve their well-being.

UDT Research

Urinary drug testing (UDT) is a valuable tool in addiction and mental health treatment for an interdisciplinary care team to use as part of an evaluation of progress of treatment and ensure they are staying clean and sober. This can help motivate patients to stay on track with their treatment and hold them accountable for their actions. Additionally, drug testing can help identify if a patient is relapsing, allowing for early intervention and support to prevent further drug use. This can be especially important for patients with a history of relapse or those who are at high risk of relapse. Lastly, drug testing can provide valuable information to healthcare professionals about the effectiveness of the treatment plan and whether adjustments need to be made to ensure the best possible outcomes for the patient.

Exercise

Regular exercise has been shown to have numerous benefits for both addiction and mental health. Exercise can help reduce cravings for addictive substances by releasing endorphins and other feel-good chemicals in the brain, which can help to elevate mood and alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. Additionally, exercise can provide a healthy outlet for stress and tension, reducing the risk of turning to substance use as a coping mechanism. Exercise can also improve cognitive function and self-esteem, which are important factors in maintaining recovery from addiction. Overall, incorporating regular exercise into a treatment plan for addiction and mental health can have a significant positive impact on overall well-being and quality of life.
